My New Goal

After my time off with injury and now illness, I have finally managed to set my new goal. After much debate between a road or trail marathon today I decided on the Fitzroy Falls Marathon. After some discussion with Blue Dog and some advice from Sean it feels good to have a running goal again and get stuck into some solid training, I have been feeling a bit lost lately.

The new program will kick off tomorrow!

Well, I think that sounds like a great place to be aiming to run. And don't let yourself fret over lost form, speed, etc. Just get your training done. You can only run at the level you are at, at any given time. You run long enough, you're gonna encounter the troughs between the waves of good running (and occasionally, also the flat bits of piss-poor surf, I mean running). Mixing my metaphors too much. I was so proud of you, and how you trained for this yr's 6FT. I wanted to post it, but CR Board was too broad an audience for a personal post from the heart. I knew how you felt, to have trained so well, and not run, and watch other would-be's in terms of effort, get to run, and finish. It sucks, but I wanted to say, the results of others, however they got there, can never diminish what you have accomplished. The massive k's covered, the morning sessions, the runs over the course, and in all of it, the effort. That is what you've achieved. I'm not without bias - I don't like to race, as much as I like to run. In fact, I hate racing. But running, as far, as fast, whatever you want to do, and the ability to do it - that is what you had then, and will work back to quicker than you think, if you are patient. And that's what I wanted to tell you at 6FT, but didn't have the words.
Love, Di.
